Bartow Proposes Millage Rate Increase

Rate hike means the county will collect $5.9 million more than last year.

Homeowners in Cartersville and Bartow County take note: The county has proposed a millage rate increase, according to The Daily Tribune.

Unincorporated areas will see their property tax rates go up by 1.95 mills; incorporated areas will see theirs rise by 1.92 mills. That's a 25.2 percent increase for unincorporated homeowners, and 21.2 percent for those in city limits.

According to the county website,  this is a 24.1 percent tax increase for the county as a whole, $5.9 million more than last year, and more taxes than it collected in any other year since before 2008.
