Bartow Couple To Appear on 'Dr. Phil' Today

The Taylor's lost their 13-year-old son in a shooting ruled accidental.

A Bartow County couple who lost their 13-year-old son in a shooting ruled accidental by authorities is set today to appear on TV's "Dr. Phil" show.

Rob and Veronica Taylor will be part of the show, "Haunted by the Evidence: Why Was My Brother Killed?”—which includes another family's story—according to drphil.com.

Robert Taylor III was an eighth-grader at Bartow's Woodland Middle School when he was shot and killed Dec. 29, 2010, in Cartersville in what police called an accidental shooting involving another boy, 14. Two years later, the Taylor's asked authorities to take another look at the case, requesting the teen shooter be charged as an adult with a crime.

The Taylor's will talk about how their family has been torn apart by the tragic death, according to a synopsis of this week's shows on drphil.com.

"...Rob and Veronica say their marriage is on the brink of divorce after their 13-year-old son, 'Little Rob,' was shot and killed by a friend nearly three years ago," the summary says. "The death was ruled accidental, but the parents say they’re not convinced. What do they believe happened? The couple admits they feel guilty about their son’s death and have been taking their anger out on each other. Can they learn to grieve as a united front and save their marriage?"

"Dr. Phil" airs on Atlanta's WXIA 11 at 5 p.m. and 3 a.m.
