He is hospitalized in stable condition.

Updated 6 p.m.

Police have identified the man shot in the neck as Jerry Jerome Ransom, 32, of 110 Johnston Street in Cartersville. As of 7:15 a.m., Ransom was in stable condition at Floyd Medical Center, but due to be released today, according to Capt. Mark Camp.

Ransom was involved in a verbal altercation with five people just before he was shot shortly before 10 p.m. Monday at the intersection Fredda Lane and Hannon Way in Cartersville, according to the incident report.

Witnesses said the argument was about money Ransom allegedly owned for a car. The five suspects left, then returned, shooting Ransom, according to witnesses.

The five have not been identified, according to Camp.
