Bartow Couple Hogtied, Hurt in Home Armed Robbery

A trio of robbers included one wearing a hard hat and carrying a clip board.

A Bartow County couple was hogtied and injured during an early-morning robbery Sunday when three men with a gun forced their way into an Acworth home.

The man, 24, and woman, 20, said someone who said he was with the Acworth Water Department started banging on the door of the Lynn Circle mobile home shortly before 7 a.m., according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, above.

An African-American man with a gun and wearing a hoodie forced his way inside, followed by a Caucasian man wearing a hard hat and carrying a clip board. The victims said they were forced to lie down on the floor and held at gunpoint, while a third man entered and started ransacking the home.

"Someone brought in rope and hogtied them," the report says. "(The victim) said they told him it would take at least (an) before he could untie himself."

The robbers "kept asking where the money was and (the victim) told them he was unemployed and did not have any," according to the report.

The male victim said he was repeatedly kicked in the face, stomach, side and back and had a swollen eye and cut on his forehead. Both he and the female victim suffered rope burns on their hands and ankles.
