Adairsville Officer On Leave After Fatally Shooting "Perpetrator"

The officer-involved shooting occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, July 22.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Adairsville.

On July 22, an officer with the Adairsville Police Department "fatally shot a perpetrator" around 12:45 a.m., interim Police Chief Arnold E. Gillman said in a press release.

The officer was injured by the perpetrator and was treated at an area hospital, Gillman added.

Along with the GBI investigation, which is department procedure, the officer has also been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. 

No further details were provided by Adairsville police.
