Police Seek Cartersville Man in Alleged Shooting

Cartersville police say a woman was shot in the leg during an argument among three people

Capt. Mark Camp said the victim sustained a non-life threatening injury when she was shot just above the knee.

Cartersville police are looking for a man accused in the shooting a woman in the leg during an argument this afternoon.

Officers about 3 p.m. responded to an apartment at 9 Stokley Street in Cartersville, according to the press release. A woman had been shot in the leg allegedly by her sister's boyfriend, during an argument among three three subjects.

The alleged shooter fled the scene, and police are currently looking for him. 

The injured woman was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment, and another woman involved was taken to Cartersville Medical Center with complaints of superficial injuries, according to police.

Capt. Mark Camp said authorities have secured arrest warrants for William Dexter Weems Jr., 23, on charges of aggravated assault and battery, and police plan to lodge additional charges tomorrow.
