About Jean

I have been living a simple life on a few acres just outside of Euharlee for almost 10 years. Over the years I have worked to turn my place into a bird friendly habitat since bird watching is my passion.  In 2009 I purchased my first decent digital camera. Photographing birds has really added much to my bird watching experience.

My mom moved my sisters and myself here in 1969. This is the 3rd time I have moved back. Maybe this one is the charm. :)

Currently I work 4 days a week at a local restaurant plus work online as a Host for Birds & Blooms magazine's Community Forums and write a blog about bird watching.

Hi Jean,

I am working on a feature film that is helping a great cause as well as offering people the opportunity to get involved with the film. I think this would be a great story to write about and tell people. I just wanted to pass this along. …Or If it’s not too much trouble, pledge on something (they are offering great things!) and if you can also please pass this along to your friends.

If I can help you out with anything or the production can help you with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Here is the link for the film:

I just wanted to let you know how much I'm enjoying your blog. I love birds, too. So much so that we rescued two Cockatiels from the animal shelter and then did the same with a Cockatoo a year later. It's so sad that people make pets of these animals and then the animals get to be too much and they just give them away. We are forever responsible for what we have tamed.

We were told the cockatiels were scheduled to be put down because they were "noisy" and made the dogs bark too much. The noise? They whistle 'The Andy Griffith Show' theme. Isn't that just horrible? The cockatoo, likewise, was scheduled to be destroyed because he was a biter and feather plucker. He's still a feather plucker but he has bonded with my husband to the point that they share pinto beans and cornbread and my husband takes him to the park to walk him (with a harness) so the bird can enjoy being outside and climbing on trees.

At any rate, I wanted you to know that I'm a fan of your writing style. Could you feature a red bird soon? I think it's called a Cardinal, but I'm not really sure. That's my favorite little flying friend around Cartersville. :)

Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge. :)
