SPLOST financing is a bad way to finance govt capital improvements. It creates a bubble in construction that creates a bubble in fees and other expenses in the future - which, by law, must be funded by property taxes. WHICH ARE IN DECLINE.

About the T-SPLOST...
Cobb Libertarians oppose TIA TSPLOST passage; seek private alternatives
MARIETTA, GA - Last Thursday evening the Libertarian Party of Cobb County voted unanimously to support all opposition to passage of the Transportation Improvement Act, also known as the T-SPLOST', when the regional refrendums are held this July 31st.
Chairman Ted Skirvin encouraged Cobb LP members to attend the upcoming Townhall Meeting on July 23 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in East Cobb. Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott will be hosting the meeting that begins at 7pm.
Skirvin pointed out that Libertarians and other free-market advocates should be helping our families and neighbors understand the negative consequences of using a regressive tax to pour such vast sums of money into projects that will benefit a relative minority of the population.
Also mentioned was the fact that the Georgia Public Policy Foundation states that "About 52 percent of $6.2 billion slated for regional projects would go to transit – in a region where less than 3.6 percent of commuters use transit."
Yes, there is an alternative. Skirvin suggested, "A better solution to traffic congestion would be to remove all laws and regulations that hinder someone from starting up a private bus company. I was in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2001. They have three private bus companies servicing the city and no public bus service. Thus, the transit needs are met without resorting to public transit. "

A few years back, I saw one in my parents' back yard at night. I thought it was a tan dog.
