A Bartow County man died Sunday when his car left the roadway and overturned. The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. when Dustin Lee Morgan in a curve lost control of his 2006 Chrysler, which was traveling westbound on Old Alabama Road, left the road, hit a culvert and overturned, coming to rest in the median, Georgia State Patrol officials told The Daily Tribune News. Born in Cartersville, "Dusty" Morgan was 26 years old and engaged to be married, according to his obituary. A female passenger was thrown from the car after it left the roadway and overturned several times in Bartow County. In a separate incident, seven people were hurt in a crash involving three vehicles in Cartersville.

A Cartersville woman was killed early Friday in an one-vehicle crash on Old Alabama Road when the car she was in ran off the road, flipped several times and landed upside down near Pumpkinvine Creek. The driver, Richard Wesley Kelley, 42, also of Cartersville, was hurt, while his passenger, Taryn Elizabeth McCormack, 24, was thrown from the car and died as a result of the 1:20 a.m. wreck, The Daily Tribune News reports. Bartow County Scanner reports a police officer discovered a trail of debris indicating a car wreck, and after a brief search, found the car upside down on the bank of the creek. The driver had walked to a house off Bates Road to get help for his wife, whom he could not find. She was later found in the water. GSP troopers …

Authorities say a Woodstock man ran a road block Saturday night in Bartow County, leading officers on chase that ended in a Cobb crash. Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said Winston Keith Wiggins, 45, was arrested after he allegedly failed to stop at Old Alabama and Bates roads near Emerson where troopers and Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies were conducting a license check. The Nissan Titan he was driving crashed on Interstate 75 at Canton Road in Cobb County after authorities attempted a traffic stop, Wright added. Updated 6 p.m. Wright said the driver of a 1999 Ford Super Duty truck, identified as Christopher Edward Lary, 43, of Emerson, lost control of the vehicle in a curve on Highway 293 about 10:30 Wednesday night. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, overturned and hit a tree. Christopher Edward Lary was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of his injuries. A woman who was walking along Highway 41 on a rainy night in Cartersville was twice struck by cars and killed, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Franka Young said. Christina Mae Warner, 27, of Cartersville, died at the scene of the incident, which happened Tuesday shortly after midnight. The driver of the second car to hit the pedestrian stopped and notified authorities, but the first vehicle to hit Warner, in the right lane, did not stop and left the scene, Young said. Authorities are upping the ante in the ongoing search for the driver and vehicle involved in a Bartow County hit-and-run that killed a mother and her child. Atlanta Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 in the Dec. 21 crash on Interstate 75 at exit 293, according to a Georgia State Patrol news release. Georgia State Troopers have investigated more crashes during this New Year's holiday than last year, with injuries rising above New Year's 2012 levels, and almost as many deaths – six so far this year, compared to seven last year.
