Friends, Artists Seek Donations for Benji Wilhoite Tribute
The concert to honor the Cartersville native who became an actor, singer, songwriter and musician is set for March 23 at the Legion Theatre.
Nearly a dozen musicians, all friends of the late Benji Wilhoite, are set to pay tribute to the Cartersville native, who became an actor, singer, musician and songwriter, with a March 23 concert. Wilhoite, who passed away March 14, 2011, while living in New York, may be best known for the song Rocky Top Tennessee in the movie Six Pack, but also had roles in several films and TV movies and series. Wilhoite also was an "extraordinary musician who had an extensive catalog of brilliant songs that deserve to be heard by the masses," according to a group of his friends and fellow artists, which include Bartow County resident and actor Jim Adams and Cartersville musicians Donny Hammonds and Donovan Cox.
