A Club for Moms by Moms

All moms living in Bartow County who are at home during the majority of the work week are invited to join the MOMS Club. Most members have kids that are preschool-age or younger. There are currently about 25 …

Crafts for Kids: Sensory Bottles

Here's a fun craft you can do with your kids using supplies you probably have at home.

Kids are endlessly curious and one of the best ways to nurture their inquisitive spirits is with crafts. Making sensory bottles is great activity because the bottles are fun to create and provide mental stimulation for kids of all ages.   A sensory bottle is a catch-all term for any bottle that’s been filled and decorated with interesting things and no two are exactly alike. In this tutorial you will learn three popular bottles that your kids can customize. Let them get their hands dirty and create, create, create! All grocery supplies were purchased at Ingles and the crafting supplies were purchased at Hobby Lobby. You can find comparable supplies at Kroger, Publix and Walmart. Things You Need to Know Today

Is It Spring Yet?

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

Today should be sunny with a partly cloudy evening. Winds will likely be 5 to 10 mph. 2. So is it spring yet? According to the Weather Channel, the temperatures will likely stay in the 60s through the first of March. The rest of next month averages around 60, so maybe springtime is here. 3. Reports of additional fires Tuesday reinforce the danger of current conditions. See a local fire official explain the probable cause of all the recent fires. Things You Need to Know Today

Sunny with Continued Fire Danger

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

1. Another nice day is on tap with a high about 66 and a low of 34. Cloudy skies in the morning should gradually give way to sunny skies Tuesday with 5 to 15 mile per hour winds. 2. The National Weather Service issued a warning in effect through Tuesday that warns of high fire danger due to winds and low moisture in the stuff on the ground that fuels brush fires.  Firefighters are still working to keep control of Saturday and Sunday fires that shut down highways for two days. Don't miss the latest here — local fire officials are asking residents not to perform controlled burns even if permitted to do so. 3. It's not all police and fire here at Cartersville Patch. We're looking for local …
