Bartow County Unemployment Rate Matches Georgia Average
Bartow County's more than 4,200 unemployed residents drove its jobless rate up in December, according to the state Department of Labor.
Bartow County had 100 fewer people working in December 2012 than a month earlier, but there also were 65 more people looking for work, which increased the unemployment rate to 8.6 percent. The county had 49,829 in the labor force last month. Coupled with only 45,557 of them working, the jobless rate rose three tenths of a percent from November 2012. But even the increase wasnn't enough to make it even close to the highest recorded unemployment rates in Georgia counties, with many much higher than 10 percent.
