Driver Charged in Deaths of Cartersville Infant, Two Women

Brent Lynch faces three homicide charges, a feticide and five other offenses after the Christmas Day crash.

A Calhoun man has been charged in the fatal accident that claimed the lives of an infant and two women, all from Cartersville, on Christmas Day The investigating Georgia State Patrol trooper took out warrants and Brent Leighton Lynch of Calhoun, was charged and jailed in the Gordon County Detention Center Wednesday night. Lynch has been charged with: The crash occurred Tuesday at 5:47 p.m. on Georgia Highway 53 near Mauldin in Gordon County. The crash killed April Nacoale Winters and two passengers in her vehicle – Tanika Latrice Ackies, 21, of Cartersville, and 27-day-old Niyla Raine Ackies, also of Cartersville. Sheriff: Help ID Homicide Victim

Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities are seeking help in identifying the Hispanic man found in July off Paga Mine Road. He was shot at least twice.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities are hoping someone can help identify skeletal remains found by four fishermen in July. In his first such experience, Sheriff Clark Millsap today revealed forensic technicians' re-creation of the facial features of the Hispanic man authorities believe was the victim of homicide. While they can't say when the victim died, Millsap said the man was lying in the woods "for a while." He is believed to be between 18 and 40 years old and between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall. The victim was shot at least twice, once in the back of the head and once in the mid torso, Millsap added. Investigators believe a .22-caliber weapon was used and found shell casings near the remains. The skeleton was …

Updated: Man Arrested in Homicide

Authorities say 49-year-old Juanita Grace Thompson was killed by a gunshot wound and found behind a home on Weems Spur.

Updated 3 p.m. Authorities are not sure of a motive in the alleged murder, but believe Thompson may have confronted Whitener, resulting in an argument that led to her death. "Either she confronted him about stealing or something to that effect, but we may never know," said Sgt. Jonathan Rogers, adding Whitener is charged in unrelated "crimes of opportunity," including financial transaction card theft, and wanted in Floyd County. Rogers added Whitener was employed by Thompson's boyfriend, who was working during the incident. In an email to Cartersville Patch, Thompson's niece, Cassie Tibbetts, said early reports Thompson's boyfriend may have been involved were not valid. Robbery Apparent Motive in Alleged Murder

Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities arrested two additional people in connection with the death of Tim Buck.

Authorities have now arrested a total of three people in connection with a homicide on Harvest Way last month. Timothy Lee Buck, 46, of 132 Jackson Circle, Marietta, was found deceased and sitting on the front porch of a friend's home with a gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff Clark Millsap in a news release said two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the case — Ted Debaise Robinson, 29, and Justin Cody Wise, 24, both of Cartersville, each face murder and armed robbery charges. Robinson is currently in another metro Atlanta jail on unrelated charges and will be brought to Bartow County jail once released. Wise is currently in the Bartow County jail. Sheriff's Office Investigates Homicide

The victim, a Marietta man, was shot in the head on the porch of a home at 35 Harvest Way in Cartersville.

Authorities today released details of an apparent homicide that occurred sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning. According to the incident report, Timothy Lee Buck, 46, of 132 Jackson Circle, Marietta, was found Saturday morning deceased with a gunshot wound to the head. Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities were called shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday to a mobile home at 35 Harvest Way in Cartersville. The man who called police told investigators Buck came to the home Friday after work. Around 6:15 p.m., the two drove to a business on GA 113 to pick up the man's three children and returned to the house shortly after.
