Police Chief Tommy Culpepper said investigators have not confirmed the identity of the man who was taken to Floyd Medical Center with three gunshot wounds.

Social media could be credited with the arrest of one of four men suspected in a home invasion on Highway 20 Spur. A 19-year-old man used his computer to notify a friend of the alleged burglary around 9 p.m. Wednesday. One of the men held her at gunpoint while the other allowed two additional men in through the front door. Two men used a story about a broken-down car to get inside a house and left with almost $40,000 in valuables.
Six people were arrested this week and charged in connection with the robbery Monday of nearly $40,000 worth of valuables from a home on Valley Drive. Cartersville police said a 70-year-old man allowed two men into the house to use his phone after they said their car had broken down. The two visitors then threatened and tied up the man and his wife with electrical cords and made off with items including a wedding ring valued at $26,000, a .45-caliber handgun and a white GMC Sierra. The male victim told police the two men loaded up his safe and drove off in his truck.
