Chatt Tech Hammers for Habitat

Chattahoochee Technical College students, faculty and staff worked at the Bartow Area Habitat for Humanity’s latest build site and took those lessons back to the classroom.

Volunteering for a Habitat for Humanity build is not the usual activity for an English class, but Chattahoochee Technical College’s Marian Muldrow found a way to include 20 of her students. The group, along with other faculty, students and staff were at the Cartersville location of the Bartow Area Habitat for Humanity’s latest build site Saturday morning. "Since service learning is one of the core values of CTC, I wanted to incorporate that along with unity and student-centered learning into my classes," said Muldrow. "The students have a few choices for a service project each month. I thought it would be a great opportunity to not only get to know the students better but also have them do something positive in the community." Muldrow’s …

Wells Fargo Volunteers Work on Habitat House

The company is one of many whom Habitat for Humanity relies on for donations.

Approximately 40 people spent last Saturday working on Habitat for Humanity's newest house under construction. Many of the volunteers at the job site on Douglas Street were from Wells Fargo. And, in addition to working on the handicap-accessible house, the company presented the local organization with a check for $15,000. Habitat for Humanity Director Robin Hooker said the non-profit organization relies on companies like Wells Fargo for donations. "We could not build houses (like this) without donations from companies like Wells Fargo," Hooker said. "It means a lot to us." The volunteers worked on all aspects of the house, from inside and in the yard to underneath the structure. Work began 5-6 weeks ago, and Hooker said she hopes the home …
