American Cancer Society Gears Up for Bartow's Relay for Life

With nearly a month left, teams are planning and doing last-minute fundraising in the hope of raising $300,000 for the 17th annual Relay for Life on Sept. 9 in Dellinger Park.

The motto is “celebrating more birthdays.” This year, the American Cancer Society's plans to celebrate more birthdays in a big way in Cartersville's Dellinger Park—with a birthday-themed bash for the 17th annual Relay for Life. ACS Northwest Georgia senior community manager Gretchen Barkley said the event, which is an annual cancer walk for Cartersville and Bartow, helps ACS raise funds for cancer research and cures, informational purposes within communities around the nation, and for providing services and programs to patients. “We spend several months fundraising before the big event in the park,” Barkley said. “So, the (Relay) is really the celebratory side all the hard work our teams have put in over those months.
