Popular Pet Place: Bartow Animal Hospital

Cartersville Patch readers voted in this week's poll for their favorite local pet-boarding facilities.

Bartow & Acworth Animal Hospital is Cartersville Patch Readers' Choice for boarding pets. The veterinarian and animal hospital, which opened in 1982, garnered 63 percent of the votes in this week's poll, beating out four others, but none of the pet-boarding facilities in our free business directory received readers' ratings and reviews. After today, Readers' Choice will go on a bit of a hiatus. Thank you for supporting local businesses and remember to visit our Patch directory to rate and review your favorites and least favorites. Readers Choose Tellus for Favorite Getaway

The Cartersville science museum is your regional pick for a family-friendly place to spend time on a staycation.

It appears that when you want to get away without really going away, you stay in Cartersville. In this week’s regional Readers’ Choice survey of staycation destinations, three of the top four vote-getters are Cartersville sites: Tellus Science Museum, Pine Mountain Recreation Area and Booth Western Art Museum. And even though six of the 19 poll options are in Cartersville Patch, commenters complained about a couple of the Cartersville sites we left off the list. So it’s only fitting that this week’s Readers’ Choice for favorite staycation destination is in Cartersville: the Tellus museum. "A selection like this means a lot because we wouldn’t be doing what we do without the support of the community," said Joe Schulman, the museum's …

Readers' Choice: Staycation Destinations

Support your local museum, park, historical site or other family location against others around the northwest Atlanta suburbs.

Memorial Day is only three weeks away, meaning summer vacation season is almost here. But with gas prices still above $3.50 a gallon and round-trip airfare for a family of four running more than $1,200 to get just about anywhere, a staycation is an enticing option. You avoid the expense and stress of travel. You don’t have to stop the mail or board the pets. But you still get the time away from work and with your family. The challenge is to avoid getting bored or spending hour after hour in front of the TV. That’s where staycation destinations come into play. You need entertaining options for the whole family, from parks to museums to historical sites. That’s what this week’s Readers’ Choice is all about. What’s your favorite place to go …

HI, Ezra: Same answer as Pettit Creek Farms. We didn't forget it, but we had to make some hard decisions about what to include and didn't want too many entries from any one Patch.   more ›

One of the most important decisions is which preschool a child will attend. The foundation established in the early years can shape the kind of the student the child becomes. Here are the facilities listed in our free business directory, but if we left your choice off the list, let us know in the comments, and we'll add it: Cast a click for your favorite in the poll below; voting is open until 9 a.m. Friday.
