Nice Weather on Tap for Valentine's Weekend

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

1. It looks like a weekend of sunny skies and warmer temperatures, at least during the day, according the National Weather Service forecast. Friday should be clear with a high near 47, but the mercury is expected to fall to a chilly 22 degrees. 2. It’s Valentine’s Day weekend! Railroad Crossing To Close Two Days

CSX is planning to replace train tracks, necessitating the Monday and Tuesday closing of the crossing on Burnt Hickory near West Avenue.

CSX is set to replace the railroad track behind Shaw Industries on West Avenue through Stilesboro Road, which would close the crossing on Burnt Hickory Road at the intersection of Douthit Ferry Road and West Avenue on Monday and Tuesday.   In a press release, city Cartersville officials said the detour is expected to directing traffic down Mission Road to Fite Street to West Avenue and vise versa. Closure is set to begin Monday at 8:30 a.m. to ensure school traffic is not affected. Tuesday school and other traffic should seek an alternate route. Cartersville Public Works, Georgia Department of Transportation and Bartow County Road Department are coordinating traffic control and the detour.  As with any construction, weather conditions …
