Man Stuck by Syringe Needle Found in Sealed Bag from Walmart

Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating after an Adairsville man was stuck with a syringe that was in a bag of bird seed he purchased at the Cartersville Walmart.

An Adairsville man was stuck with a syringe he said was in a sealed bag he purchased at the Walmart in Cartersville. He notified Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities Wednesday morning, soon after opening the bag of bird seed at his Pleasant Valley Road home, according to the incident report, attached. The victim, 52, said he opened the bag and was stuck by a sharp object, which he later determined was a needle from a syringe. Deputies collected it as evidence, and investigators are looking into the incident. It's different than the rash of syringe finds at the Cartersville Walmart more than a year ago, said Sgt. One thing they aren't checking - the facilities where these items come from before they get to Wal-Mart. I used to work for Kmart in Cartersville and a couple of people found syringes in clothing in completely sealed boxes. Like, fresh off the truck, I watched someone cut the tape, open the box, and about halfway down in between a pair of pajamas was definitely a syringe.   more ›

Cops: Woman Assaults Walmart Worker after Shoplifting

Bartow County authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the woman who left the Cartersville store in an SUV with Alabama plates.

Authorities say a woman shown in Walmart surveillance footage shoplifted at the Cartersville store, then assaulted an employee who tried to confront her about it. Bartow County Sheriff's Office investigators want to identify the woman who was wearing a jersey with the No. 2 in connection with the Friday incident about 6 p.m. Witnesses later spotted her leaving in a silver SUV with Alabama tags. Elderly Woman Victim of Snatch-and-Grab Robbery

Bartow County authorities say Cartersville Walmart's surveillance system captured the suspect take a wallet containing $60 in cash from the victim's purse.

Sheriff: Help ID Sunglasses Shoplifter

Bartow County authorities say a man whose image was captured on video surveillance has twice taken eye wear from Pear Vision.

Authorities in Cartersville are trying to identify a man accused of stealing several sunglasses in two separate incidents at Pearl Vison. About 1 p.m. Saturday, the African-American man wearing a white shirt and dark-colored shorts took a pair of sunglasses without paying and drove off in a white passenger car, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report. That was the second time he stole sunglasses, according to Pearl Vision employees. They said the same man, in the same manner took three pairs of sunglasses in an incident about a week earlier. Surveillance Cameras Capture Thieves

Bartow County Sheriff's authorities want to hear from you if you recognize the man or woman accused of stealing a bicycle and computer from Walmart.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office officials released surveillance camera photos of a couple they say stole the laptop and bicycle from Walmart. The two went to the store March 30 during the early morning hours, and authorities say the man rode out on the bicycle carrying stolen merchandise. The woman was described as a white and in her mid 20s, about 5-feet-5-inches tall and 220 pounds, with brown hair, and wearing a pink shirt and light blue pajama pants. The man was described as a white, about 5-feet-8-inches tall and 150 pounds, and wearing all black clothing including a black ballcap.
