Bass Pro Shops, Leading LakePoint Anchor, to Open in 2014

An initial 200 jobs will result and an additional 300 adjacent acres will be developed as a nature park at the huge Emerson sports complex near Cartersville in Bartow County.

Bass Pro Shops is coming to Bartow County with a 100,000-square-foot store slated to open in 2014. The Bass Pro Shops Outpost store in Emerson will be the leading anchor of LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center, according to the retailer. The Bartow County Development Authority approved Thursday a memorandum of understanding outlining details of the agreement, which includes the relocation of the intersection at GA Highway 293 and Old Allatoona Road, The Daily Tribune News reported. "The memorandum provides that Bass Pro is purchasing property and LakePoint is making some committents in terms of infrastructure that has to be put in place,” County Attorney Boyd Pettit told the newspaper. New Life, New Tenant for Historic Cartersville Building

Visionary Plans Mini America Theme Park at LakePoint

Eric de Groot had the idea for a miniature educational theme park 10 years ago, and now envisions it at LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center near Cartersville in Bartow County.

Eric de Groot can be called many things, a humanitarian, visionary, even dreamer. All of those attributes seem to fit as one of his dreams moved closer to reality with LakePoint's groundbreaking. voestalpine Production Slated to Begin Next Year

The Cartersville manufacturing facility is the first step in the company's comprehensive globalization strategy that includes new plants in China and Germany.

voestalpine's new manufacturing facility set for Highland 75 Industrial Park in Cartersville, which was announced less than two weeks ago, is slated to begin production by the middle of next year, company leaders said in a statement. The $62 million plant in Bartow County—which company reps describe as "in the center of a cluster of automobile factories"—will manufacture and assemble stamped-metal components, transmission and power train parts. "Cartersville is centrally located in a southern 'automotive cluster' in close proximity to our customers," said Herbert Eibensteiner, voestalpine Management Board member and Metal Forming Division head. Wake Park Closes on Land at LakePoint

Construction of Terminus Wake Park at LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center is set to begin this fall, and the opening is expected in the spring.

Wake Park Atlanta, which in January announced plans to open a cable wakeboard park at LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center in Bartow County, closed this week on almost 20 acres of land. Developers say the innovative, multi-lake design at Terminus Wake Park will accommodate wake boarders of all skill levels. "The park’s signature will be an elaborate series of rails and obstacles," Austin Singleton, one of the principals with Terminus, said in a press release. "Many of the obstacles at the park will not be available anywhere else in the United States and some of the custom obstacles will be the first of their kind in the world." The manufacturer set to build a plant in Highland 75 near Cartersville gets property tax abatements, help securing rail service or a transfer station, and "Voestalpine Parkway."

For a $62 million capital investment and 220 full-time jobs, Bartow County agreed to give newcomer voestalpine land and tax breaks, according to a memorandum of understanding signed last week by Commissioner Clarence Brown. voestalpine Stamptee, a division of the Austrian-based, international metal-working company, agreed to build in Highland 75 near Cartersville an up to 200,000-square-foot factory on 32 acres for the manufacturing and assembly of certain stamped-metal components, transmission and power train parts.
