Sheriff: 'I Do Not Work for the Federal Government'
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap says he'll do everything in his power "to see that no one messes with our right to bear arms," about proposed gun control measures.
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap is one of several area sheriffs to speak out against a number of gun control measures proposed earlier this month by President Barack Obama. Some of the president’s proposals include a limit on the number of bullets in an ammo clip and a renewed ban on assault rifles. Here's what Millsap said in a statement to Cartersville Patch: I am a supporter and firm believer in the Constitution of the United States especially the 2nd amendment. I will do everything in my power to see that NO ONE messes with our right to bear arms. I do not work for the federal government, I work for the citizens of Bartow County. Michael, To be clear, I do not think it would be alright for my neighbors to have missles. I am making the point that there is a line at which we should infringe upon peoples right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment does not make that caveat, yet reasonable people would agree that we should prohibit civilian access to such arms (missles, grenades, etc).
