To accommodate LakePoint Sporting Commuity & Town Center near Cartersville, Bartow County will build two new roads—LakePoint Parkway and Bass Pro Parkway—and reconstruct a half mile of Highway 293 or Old Allatoona Road.
With funding from a Georgia Department of Transportation grant program that allows local governments to decide on projects, Bartow County is set to build two new roads to accommodate LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center. Cartersville residents are invited to participate in the cleanup and festivities, which begins at 11 a.m. at Atco Baptist Church in Cartersville.
The upcoming cleanup of the Atco community in Cartersville as part of Earth Day 2013 celebrations will take on a new meaning. "This year is especially meaningful since [the] city council recently named the event in honor of Ray Southern, who was the longtime city Public Works director, an Atco Baptist Church deacon and an advocate of Keep Bartow Beautiful," KBB Director Sheri Henshaw said in a press release. Each April, Great American Cleanup events are held nationwide as part of Earth Day celebrations. Bartow County Tea Party Director Gail Engelhardt and local resident Paul Nally, the pair who took a Bartow Schools board member to court, have filed another lawsuit, which takes aims at Cartersville City Schools employees and board members.
