Bartow County Sheriff's Office investigators conducted an online operation and arrested a man alleged to have arranged a sexual encounter with a girl he thought was 14 years old.
Bartow County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a Covington man accused of arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex in Bartow County. According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators, working in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, wrapped up the month-long investigation on Jan. 25 with arrest warrants for Weldon Vincent Jackson, 25, of Covington. The investigation began Dec. 10, when Jackson allegedly contacted what he thought was a 14-year-old female — actually an investigator with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office — online and began chatting.
