2 Stabbed, 1 Critical in Bloody Robbery

Witnesses said a man with a knife entered the home near a Highway 41 flea market, stole money and stabbed two men.

Three people were taken to the hospital as a result of a Sunday robbery law enforcement officer said left a bloody scene. Two victims were stabbed, one critically, and the alleged assailant sustained injuries in what investigators describe as an armed robbery, burglary and aggravated battery case, the motive of which is unclear. Witnesses told detectives 48-year-old Herbert Eberhardt Drews, whose address is listed as a room of Crown Inn on North Tennessee Street, entered the Cartersville home near a Highway 41 flea market and storage business shortly before 10 p.m., stabbed a 70-year-old man and took an undetermined amount of cash. On his way out of the house, Drews is accused of attacking and stabbing a 41-year-old Cartersville man who …

Robber Shook Hands, Apologized

A teen duo from White tried to track down a gunman through neighborhoods and woods near Cass-White Road.

Two teens—reported to police because they were driving around a Cartersville neighborhood, making frequent stops in driveways, and walking through the woods with flashlights—said they were trying to find a man who had pointed a gun at them and demanded money. Citing adrenaline, the 17- and 19-year-old men said they did not call 911 after the robber, to whom they provided a ride, asked their names, shook their hands and apologized before putting a gun to one's head and pointing it at the other. "I'm sorry," the gunman said before racking the slide on the gun, which the teens described as "one from the 007 movies," but smaller, possibly a Walther PPK. "Give me the money; I know y'all got some." The victims had given the man, who was drinking…

Two men late Thursday attempted to rob the electronics desk clerk for iPhones, but got away with nothing.

Two men held up a Walmart clerk and tried to take $3,500 in iPhones from the store about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, according to Bartow County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jonathan Rogers. But the pair, who had asked to see an iPhone, fled the store empty handed, dropping tire tools on the way. According to the incident report, the clerk, a 56-year-old Calhoun woman, said one of the men asked to see a phone and when she bent down to unlock the case, he jumped over counter, knocking her out of the way. The clerk was pushed to the floor and the other robber, who Rogers said had been standing beside the first, started grabbing cell phones.
