Mountain biking is allowed on the east loop Wednesday and Saturday and bikers are required to follow color-coded directional signs. The trails and recreation area is maintained by the city of Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department. The land was privately donated to the city.

In 1893, the city of Cartersville purchased privately owned Cartersville Water Works Company  (WaterMore Administration) and began the municipality's Water Department.

Its original supply was a spring near Thompson Weinman Dam on the north side of the Etowah River, and its facilities had two steam driven pumps, several miles of pipe and a 125,000-gallon water tank.

The department now takes water from Lake Allatoona Dam. The supply flows by gravity to the Clarence B. Walker Water Treatment Plant and is treated to drinking water quality by state-certified operators each day of the year.
