Arrest in Peeping Tom Case

The alleged victim identified the suspect as a man with distinctive tattoos she saw today walking near her home.

For an Acworth man accused of peeping on a woman in her home, it was his own distinctive tattoos that led to his arrest. About 2 p.m., the 50-year-old woman, a resident of Lake Shore Circle in Acworth, spotted him walking near Lake Acworth behind her home and called 911, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office authorities said in a press release. Chase Thomas Kirby, 25, also of Lake Shore Circle, was positively identified—due to his several distinctive tattoos—as the alleged peeping Tom who committed lewd sexual acts and exposed himself in front of the woman's home surveillance cameras. Kirby was arrested and charged with stalking, public indecency and criminal trespass. About 6 p.m., he was waiting to complete jail booking procedures. Sheriff …

'I Did a Stupid Thing'

An accused shoplifter's shopping list included beer, pornographic magazines and heartburn medication.

A Woodstock man arrested about midnight told police he had done "a stupid thing" after he crashed his car in Cartersville, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office report. Police say the suspected shoplifter who had just stopped at a Highway 41 convenience store had a lengthy shopping list. Jeffery Deano Neal, 45, is accused of snatching $185 worth of merchandise from the counter. The clerk told police Neal placed the items— a 30-pack of Bud Light, 12-pack of Corona, 11 porn publications, Pepcid AC, Trojan condoms and several lottery tickets—on the counter as if he were going to pay, then grabbed them and ran out. She locked the door and called police, and said Neal walked up to the window and knocked on the glass. Neal then fled, …

Most Wanted: Peeping Tom in Acworth

Bartow County Sheriff's Office investigators have asked the public to help them identify the man with a tattoo on his shoulder.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office adds a mugshot each week to its list of Bartow's Most Wanted, people who have been accused of crimes, not convicted. They are presumed innocent until the court system settles their cases. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspected peeping Tom should call BCSO's Criminal Investigations Division at 770-382-5050, extension 6032.

Police Hunt for Suspected Robber

Cartersville authorities say one man suspected in the robbery of an East Main Street law office has been arrested.

Updated Saturday, 12 p.m. In connection with the law firm robbery, Ray Anthony Montgomery, 22, of Etowah Drive in Cartersville, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, theft by receiving stolen property, two firearms violations and probation violation. Updated Saturday, 1 a.m. Cole and Kelly Law walked in on the robbery to find the victim, attorney John Lewis, profusely bleeding from a head injury, 11Alive reports. Authorities believe Lewis was targeted and may have known the two suspects.
