Cartersville, Bartow County Swim Team To Host Family Fun Day

Set for Sept. 7 at Dellinger Park, guests may attend for free from 2 to 5 p.m. to meet the Cobias team, its coaches and see a demonstration.

Cartersville and Bartow County's Cobias Swim Team is set to host a family fun day this weekend at Dellinger Park's pool.

Set for Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, guest may attend for free from 2 to 5 p.m, during which time they will meet the swim team, its coaches and see a demonstration by the undefeated team. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Cobias is a competitive swim team, intended for those who, as a minimum, know the basic strokes, according to its website. While it is not a venue for learning to swim, it is one for improving technique, speed, and endurance. Heavily stressed are the qualities of sportsmanship, friendship, discipline, competitiveness and team spirit.

Registering now for its year round swim team, Cobias is a member of USA Swimming, the national governing body for amateur competitive swimming in the country. The club's 2013-2014 season is set to include several sessions, which will span from August to March, according to its Facebook page.
