Wells Fargo Volunteers Work on Habitat House

Approximately 40 people spent last Saturday working on Habitat for Humanity's newest house under construction.

Many of the volunteers at the job site on Douglas Street were from . And, in addition to working on the handicap-accessible house, the company presented the local organization with a check for $15,000. Habitat for Humanity Director Robin Hooker said the non-profit organization relies on companies like Wells Fargo for donations.

"We could not build houses (like this) without donations from companies like Wells Fargo," Hooker said. "It means a lot to us."

The volunteers worked on all aspects of the house, from inside and in the yard to underneath the structure. Work began 5-6 weeks ago, and Hooker said she hopes the home will be finished in the next two weeks.

Helping out is important to Wells Fargo because bank officials want to the community to know that they care, said Kim Humbert, Wells Fargo district manager.

"We love what Habitat for Humanity does for the community, and we support their efforts to make the dream of homeownership a reality for so many," Humbert said.

The volunteers were part of more than 500 Wells Fargo team members and friends who helped out in 24 cities across Georgia.
