“We have an incredible evening planned for our final concert of the 2013 summer concert series,” Cartersville DDA Manager Tara Currier said in a release. “Babe’s Bayou never disappoints. Whenever they come here to perform, the plaza is packed. I cannot thank Meadows Heating & Air enough for their sponsorship of this event, and ensuring that this crowd favorite could come back to delight us with more of their unique songs. And the fact that we have Luther’s Mountain Bluegrass opening for Babe’s Bayou is just another great bonus to the evening.”

As part of a sneak peek as to what people can expect to see at the first ever Cartersville Bluegrass and Folk Festival scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, in downtown Cartersville, Luther’s Mountain Bluegrass will play a short set from 6:30 to just before 7:00 p.m. The four man band plays a variety of bluegrass, gospel and old time favorites.

From 7 to 9 p.m., Babe’s Bayou will take to the stage. Hailing from Adairsville, the group was formed in April 2010 and has recently opened for acts like Sammy Kershaw, Shenandoah and Doug Stone. They are led by lead singer Ryan Coker who provides lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar. Matt Thornton plays the lead guitar and assists on vocals, and Matt Chambers plays the acoustic guitar and also helps with the vocals.

Continued Currier, “I look forward to seeing another great crowd in downtown Cartersville on Saturday, August 3. As the case for our June concert, this is also the same evening as the Cartersville Shrine Club Car Cruise, so folks have plenty to see and do in downtown that evening. Of course, I encourage everyone to come early and enjoy a little shopping and dining in downtown Cartersville, and please be sure to thank Meadows Heating and Air for their sponsorship of the concert. Since the Downtown Development Authority is a non-profit, we rely on the local businesses to help facilitate community enriching programs such as the Summer Concert Series. I am so grateful to Meadows Heating and Air for helping to provide this opportunity for people of Cartersville and Bartow County to enjoy great music.”

Attendees may bring their blankets or lawn chairs to the event, or grab a seat in the amphitheater of Friendship Plaza. For those wishing to enjoy a reserved table up close to the action all night long, tables of eight may be purchased for $100 by contacting the DDA at 770-607-3480.
