One of the world’s most prestigious sporting dog events is coming to from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and local spectators can enjoy it for free.
U.S. Disc Dog World Finals is bringing more than 100 dog teams from eight countries and 18 U.S. states to Cartersville. WOOF! Sports USA, owned by Bartow resident Melissa Heeter, has been executing the event since its inception.
“This two-day event is a worldwide qualifying championship series where dogs, which have competed all year long to earn their qualifying spot, go 'tail-to-tail' among the best of the best in the dog sporting world,” Heeter said in a press release. "It will be exciting this year as five former
world champions, including last year’s world champion, go head-to-head vying to be the best of the best to win this coveted USDDN World Championship title. The final rounds of competition are scheduled to start around 3 p.m. each day."
Other free activities include Saturday's beginner division, in which local families can enter their disc dogs; pet adoptions; a pet contest; a dog agility contest and run throughs; lure course testing; and duck herding instinct testing.
