Weekend Pigskin Roundup

Every week we'll take a look back at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Cartersville Patch.

High school football is back and now every team in the area has at least one game under its belt. Here’s a brief look at the football action from the weekend in Cartersville Patch:

Woodland 39, Cass 26 – scored four times in the first half and had a two-touchdown lead at halftime, but had to hold off a late rally from to survive. Woodland quarterback R.J. Williams tossed for 255 yards and three touchdowns Friday, and Cass receiver Kelin Wells scored twice – once on a 90-yard kickoff return – to pace their teams.

Pepperell 12, Cartersville 0 – had trouble moving the ball Friday against Pepperell, tallying just 76 yards on offense for the night and failing to score. The Purple Hurricanes were hit hard by graduation last year and will need to find a way to gel quickly.
