Extreme Volleyball Professionals Tour Plans Stop at LakePoint

Gold-medal athletes are set to compete in Emerson, just outside Cartersville in Bartow County, in 2014.

LakePoint Sporting Community announced today the Extreme Volleyball Professionals Tour will make its first-ever stop in the Atlanta area in June 2014.

The EVP Tour is an interactive beach volleyball event with some of the greatest elite volleyball athletes competing for top honors. The tour stop will take place June, 27 and 28, 2014, at the newly-completed beach volleyball area at LakePoint, according to the press release.

The development, in Emerson, just outside Cartersville in Bartow County, will include 1,200-plus acres of sports venues, commercial, retail and entertainment options.

The EVP Tour stop will include 24 professional teams and more than 100 semi-pro teams. More than 300 athletes will be in attendance, and some of the players are gold-medal winners for the U.S.A. National team.

“We are excited that LakePoint Sporting Community has chosen the EVP Tour as part of its sporting events in 2014,” EVP Tour Founder Ross Balling said in the release. “We travel all over the country and we believe the LakePoint Sporting Community will offer adult and youth athletes the best venue to compete.”

Included in the EVP Tour events in June 2014 will be a Junior Spike & Splash Tour, in which a series of matches and activities will take place for 12- to 18-year-olds, as well as some of the top club teams in the southeast participating.

“LakePoint is thrilled to bring some of the top athletes in the world in volleyball to Emerson to compete at our state-of-the-art facility,” Co-CEO and LakePoint partner Earl Ehrhart said. “The EVP Tour events will be non-stop action for the whole family, with fan participation being center of the action.”

During the tour stop, a travel sports show will be shot that highlights the men’s and women’s semi-finals and final matches, as well as a special segment on the venue and surrounding community. The travel sports show will air on more than 20 regional sports networks throughout the country.
