Local Business’ team up to help Underprivileged Students
Back to school is quickly upon us. Supplies are in stores, sports team practices are starting soon, and the days are getting shorter. For many in Bartow County this is a time of excitement as the school year is approaching and soon the swing of softball bats and the sounds of Friday night football will fill the air. For many however, it is a time of added stress at the cost of back to school. It’s no secret that many teachers spend their own money on school supplies for students who simply cannot afford it. Some local businesses heard of this problem and decided to do something about it.

This Saturday, July 21, Harley-Davidson of Cartersville, Bruce Thompson Allstate, and the Terry Reid Auto Group are teaming up to sponsor a school supply drive and fundraiser for underprivileged students of Bartow County as a part of Harley-Davidson’s Community Day. Bins will be set-up to not only collect pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, but people are also encouraged to stop by the different tents and pick a kid to sponsor. With various levels starting at a $1, everyone can have a chance to participate. The money and supplies collected will be distributed between both City and County schools. “When we heard of the great need, we knew that given the opportunity, this great community would rise to the challenge and help meet this need.” –states Bruce Thompson “It also excites me to see small business and in this case all Chamber members as well, coming together to give back to our community. “
In addition to the School Supply Drive, there will also be Free Child I.D. kits by the sherrifs department, fire safety house, Bloodmobile by Life South, Jumpstart motorcycle for new or first time riders, as well as food vendors and face painting and more for kids. “Harley-Davidson has always been a family friendly business and we do support our community in many ways. We encourage everyone to come and bring the whole family for this day of fun, food and fellowship that gives back to our community.”states Chris Cain of Harley Davidson. Be sure to bring the whole family out and support a great cause this Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Harley Davidson of Cartersville located on highway 411 across from Tellus Science Museum.
