Cartersville Drops Into 3-Way Tie in Little League Standings

Cartersville's loss to Rockmart puts its Northwest Georgia Little League Tournament championship game hopes in jeopardy.

After losses on Tuesday and Thursday, the Murphey Candler Gold 9-year-old All-Star team notched its first win of the Northwest Georgia Little League Tournament at Sewell Park Friday in the early game.

The game went into extra innings after Murphey Candler Gold and the East Marietta All-Stars were tied at four through regulation. Murphey Candler Gold scored a run in the top of the seventh inning and pitcher Patrick Casey shut the door on the East Marietta team to help Gold team win, 5-4.

Rockmart continued its dominance of the tournament in the late game as the team moved to 3-0 atop the standings with a win over Cartersville, 7-3. Rockmart is the only unbeaten team in the round-robin portion of the tournament while Cartersville is one of three teams tied with just one win.
