'Cane Boys, Girls Equal in Cross Country
Both Cartersville High teams finish 18th at the state AAA meet in Carrollton.
boys and girls matched each other with 18th-place finishes in the AAA state cross-country championships Saturday in Carrollton.
For the boys, the top runners were Roger Herrera in 80th, Troy Hickom in 81st, Lawson Crowe in 98th, Tommy Morrison in 103rd and Zach Cravey in 126th.
For the girls, Dorie Brunzelle was the top finisher for the Purple Hurricanes in 78th. Also scoring for Cartersville were Kristen Horstman in 102nd, Tori Sims in 128th, Elyse Hoganson in 133rd and Victoria Everhart in 135th.

The highest-placing Bartow County runner Saturday actually was in the AA girls race: Emily Sexauer of Adairsville finished the 5K in 15th place in 20:38.53.
