Adairsville Is Sole Football Survivor

The Tigers make the AA playoffs with a 9-1 record, while the seasons end for Cartersville, Cass and Woodland.

Adairsville is the lone school in Bartow County to make the Georgia High School Association football playoffs.

The Tigers won a Region 7-AA play-in game on the road against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, 24-14, Friday night to complete a 9-1 regular season and a playoff berth.

Adairsville is the third seed from 7-AA and will play at Banks County from Region 8-AA in the first round of the GHSA AA playoffs.

Banks County, in Homer, is 7-3 this year but enters the postseason on a two-game losing streak.

One of those losses was a 34-17 defeat against East Hall on Oct. 28, according to Georgia Prep Country. Adairsville beat East Hall, 26-3, on Sept. 16.

If Adairsville wins next week against Banks, its next game will be at Fitzgerald (9-1) or home against McIntosh County Academy (4-6).

, and all ended their seasons Friday night:

  • Cartersville lost a playoff play-in game at home to Dalton, 21-14, to finish 5-5.
  • Woodland knocked off Sequoyah, 39-27, to end 4-6.
  • Cass lost to Lambert, 31-0, to complete the year 0-10.
