Georgia Power has announced that Brandon Dillard has been tapped to serve as the plant manager of the company's Plant Bowen near Cartersville.

Dillard replaces retiring plant manager Tim Banks. In his new role, Dillard will direct all operations at one of Georgia Power’s largest coal-fired generating facilities.

Most recently, Dillard served as plant manager at Plant Scherer in Juliette. He began his career with Southern Company in 2000 as an engineer at Plant Hammond in Rome and has progressed through various leadership roles at multiple Georgia Power facilities, including maintenance team leader at Plant Hammond, operations team leader at Plant Bowen and planning and engineering manager at Plant Branch.

In 2006, Dillard was named operations and maintenance manager at Alabama Power's Plant Miller where he worked for two years before returning to Georgia Power in 2008 as plant manager at both Plant Hammond and Plant Wansley.

“I’m very excited to return to Plant Bowen,” said Dillard. “Bowen is a Georgia Power center of innovation including the new Water Research Center and new, advanced environmental controls. I look forward to working with the team here to continue to build on a strong history of safety and high performance.”

Dillard holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University. He and his wife Shannon have three children.
