Cass High School senior Veronica Cuevas, a McDonald’s restaurant employee in Cartersville, was recently awarded a $2,500 McDonald’s National Employee Scholarship Award. Cuevas is among several McDonald’s restaurant employees nationwide selected to receive this honor for their outstanding employee contributions, scholastic achievements and community involvement, according to the press release.

“McDonald’s continues to provide me with opportunities to learn and grow,” Cuevas said in the release. “This restaurant offers flexible hours, which allow me to work my schedule around my academic and other responsibilities. The experience will serve me in my college classes and beyond.”
Veronica Cuevas, who joined the McDonald’s restaurant team in June 2010, was the Cass High School 2013 valedictorian and plans to attend Stanford University this fall.

Paula Matla, store manager of the McDonald’s in Cartersville, recommended Cuevas to receive this scholarship.

Veronica exemplifies the qualities of a true leader,” said Matla. “She has done an outstanding job both in the restaurant and in school, using lessons from both to reach her goals.”
