Green Highlands Goes to Tybee

The Georgia Highlands organization's recent service trip included beautification projects and a little sightseeing.

Green Highlands' objective is to promote sustainable lifestyles in the college community and surrounding areas. With its third-annual "Spring Green" service trip, the organization traveled to Tybee Island.

Activities included an educational Marsh Trek with the Tybee Marine Science Center; a meeting with Libby Bacon of the Tybee Beautification Association, who discussed the impact that litter has on sea life and a "beach sweep;" a visit to the Burton 4-H Center at which students broke ground on the Jon Penny Memorial Garden in honor of a fallen soldier; a well-deserved visited the Tybee Light Station and Fort Screven for a little sightseeing.
