Georgia Highlands Appoints New Dean of Social Science

Dr. Alan Nichols has been tapped to serve as the new dean of the Social Science, Business, and Education divisions at Georgia Highlands College.

Georgia Highlands College last week named Dr. Alan Nichols as the new dean of the Social Science, Business, and Education divisions. 

Dr. Nichols has been with Georgia Highlands since 2004 when he came to the college as an instructor of philosophy. Before that he taught at Georgia Perimeter College and Georgia State University. 

Dr. Nichols has also served as the coordinator of educational program assessment at Georgia Highlands. Dr. Nichols earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Missouri.

“Dr. Nichols has risen through the ranks of the division at GHC, moving from philosophy faculty member to academic dean. His deep ties within the division, coupled with his academic credentials in the field, will help lead this dynamic division into the future.” said Laura Musselwhite, interim vice president for academic and student affairs. 

Dr. Nichols begins his duties July 1.
