Elected Officials, Some New, Sworn In

Bartow County's newly-elected and re-elected officials were sworn in the last day of 2012 during a courthouse ceremony.

Set to take office in January, County Commissioner Steve Taylor, Tax Commissioner Steve Stewart, District Attorney Rosemary Greene, Clerk of Court Melba Scoggins, and Bartow Schools board members Anna Sullivan and Fred Kittle are among officials who took their oaths of office. Others include incumbents Sheriff Clark Millsap, Chief Magistrate Judge Tom Moseley and Probate Court Judge Mitchell Scoggins.

Kittle, who will represent District 4, says he has notified the Bartow County Republican Party and the 11th District Georgia Republican Party Executive Committees he has resigned as an officer of the party.

"I can tell you without equivocation that Fred has been an enormous asset to the party," Chairman Louis DeBroux said in a release.

Kittle garnered more votes than incumbent Wanda Cagle Gray, a former Repblican turned independent, in the November general election.

"As you read of the problems that plague so many of our school boards, it is comforting to know that a man of your stature is freely assuming this responsibility," Bob Shaw of the 11th District said in the release. "Best of luck and God's blessings in your new assignment."
