CHS Principal Finalist for Chattooga Superintendent

Jay Floyd has applied for the Chattooga County school system's superintendent post and is one of three applicants under consideration.

In two weeks, officials could know if they need to begin the search for a new principal.

Principal Jay Floyd is in the running for a new job with the Chattooga County school system. He is one of three finalists for superintendent and is up against the current Chattooga County and Model high school principals, according to The Summerville News.

Floyd and the other two men now under consideration were narrowed from a field of more than 40 applicants, the newspaper reported here.

Assistant principal at from 2001 to 2003, Floyd served as principal since 2004, according to the newspaper. Previous to his employment with the local school system, Floyd held positions with Dalton Public Schools. He also serves or has severed on a number of boards and committees.

According to WBHF — AM 1450, former Chattooga schools superintendent Dwight Pullen left the position in May.
