Chatt Tech Honors 1,000 Grads

The commencement ceremony honored those completing their programs of study during the summer term and fall semester.

About 1,000 Chattahoochee Technical College graduates were honored Thursday in a ceremony at the . The ceremony recognized those completing their programs of study during the summer term and fall semester.

Industrial Systems Technology graduate Melvin Allen felt at home at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. A resident, he worked on much of the woodwork that decorates the ballroom in which graduates waited to march into the auditorium. Like many college graduates his focus now is finding a job.

“That’s the first thing,” said Allen, “But for now I’m thrilled to be graduating.”

State Sen. Chip Rogers was the commencement speaker at the event. Rogers was first elected in 2002 to the Georgia House of Representatives before being elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2004. Rogers was unanimously chosen as the Georgia Senate Majority Leader in 2009.

Popular programs for graduates include Computer Information Systems, Business Administrative Technology, Accounting and Early Childhood Care and Education for those receiving an Associate of Applied Science. Of those graduates receiving a diploma, most studied Cosmetology, Practical Nursing and Medical Assisting.
