Legion Studio Acting Workshops Begin

Pumphouse Players classes in conjunction with Georgia Highlands College begin Sept. 15 for youth and adults.

Pumphouse Players is set to begin in September acting workshops, in conjunction with , to be conducted at the historic in Cartersville.

The classes, to be known as the Legion Studio, start Sept. 15 for youngsters at 9 a.m. and adults at 1 p.m.

Workshops will introduce participants to basic theatrical concepts, such as the terminology and technology of the theater, and will progress to stage concepts, such as stage movement and voice projection.

The final weeks will concentrate on character development and improvisation skills.

Upon completion of each six- or eight-week program, all graduates will appear in an original production at the Legion Theatre or Georgia Highlands College.

The youth program is available for children ages 6 to 12; the cost for the six-week program is $200. The adult program (teens and up) is eight weeks long and will cost $250.

Classes will continue each Saturday until the final productions. The final production for the youth program will be on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m., at the Legion. The adult program will conclude with a performance on the evening of Nov. 10, with the time and location to be determined.
