Football Player Collapses at Practice

The ninth-grader was taken to the hospital but appears to be fine.

Update 6:30 a.m.

The player, Cameron Gooding, and his mom, Lavette, talked to CBS Atlanta and put the blame on his lack of eating and drinking during the day.

Cameron, who CBS Atlanta said is 14, told the news crew as he left that he'll take the rest of the week off from football, then return to practice next week.

Bartow County Fire and EMS personnel responded to on Wednesday afternoon after reports that a 13-year-old boy had fallen unconscious at the football field, Bartow County Scanner reported.

According to FOX 5 News, which talked to Superintendent John Harper, the ninth-grader collapsed at football practice because he had not eaten all day. He has since been released from the hospital.
