Cartersville Fire Department to Host a Firefighter/Explorer Competition

The Cartersville Fire Department will be hosting a Firefighter/Explorer Competition at Cartersville High School on June 15th from 9 AM until 3 PM.

The Cartersville Fire Department will be hosting a Firefighter/Explorer Competition at Cartersville High School on June 15th. The event will start at 9:00 A.M. and last until 3:00 P.M. This event is being hosted as part of the Northwest Georgia Fire Chief’s Association (NGFCA) tour of Firefighter/Explorer competitions, in an effort to raise money to support continued fire Service education in Northwest Georgia. The NGFCA will also be sponsoring events in Calhoun and Fort Oglethorpe/Catoosa County July and August this year.

The competition will include firefighter and Explorer teams competing for time and accuracy in a variety of hose evolutions and drills, such as the Bucket Brigade and Busted Hose replacement drill. In addition, there will be Fire and EMS equipment on display, as well as a raffle and concessions. This is a family event and the public is welcome; there is no charge to attend.

The Northwest Georgia Fire Chief’s Association is an organization that consist of Fire Service leaders throughout Northwest Georgia that was formed with the goal of achieving excellence in fire department management and outstanding firefighter performance (www.nwgfca.org).
