Would You Sign a Petition to Nullify 'Obamacare'?

Georgians for Healthcare Freedom has drafted a constitutional amendment calling for action from Gov. Nathan Deal and legislators and proposes a statewide petition drive to collect the signatures of 5 percent of registered voters.

Georgians for Healthcare Freedom wants you to sign your name to help nullify 'Obamacare' in Georgia.

Citing Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts decision to uphold it as constitutional, the group says he "also made it clear states have the right to stop it cold."

A constitutional amendment drafted by Georgians for Healthcare Freedom calls for Gov. Nathan Deal and legislators to nullify the federal affordable healthcare law, which would require a two-thirds vote of both houses and a majority vote of citizens.

Georgia's Tea Parties are supporting the proposal.

"Obamacare is a Socialist healthcare program," Bartow County Tea Party Director Gail Engelhardt said. "We had the best healthcare system in the free world, and then Obamacare was passed without anybody reading what was in the bill.

"We now find out how destructive it will be to our freedom and liberties. That's why I will support the petition drive to let our legislators know we do not want Obamacare in our state at all."

Several bills that work toward nullifying Obamacare are sitting idle, according to Georgians for Healthcare Freedom, which wants to collect the signatures of 5 percent of Georgia's 272,622 registered voters.

Will you sign the petition to nullify Obamacare in Georgia? What do you think of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act? Tell us in the comments.

Former congressman Bob Barr will present "How to Fight Obamacare and Other Bad Legislation" at a Feb. 28 meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Holly Springs Train Depot at 164 Hickory Road in Holly Springs in nearby Cherokee County.

I will proudly sign with a signature as large as that of John Hancock's on our Declaration of Independence. Obama care is an Obomination. (Yes I know it's spelled wrong)

Absurd and delusional thinking. This is the law of the land. Already been upheld by the Supreme Court. The states can nullify this? Complete hogwash and the people proposing it know it. Probably just looking for financial donations from the gullible.

Stan, The states were given the option to "opt out" of the expansion of medicare and thereby force the federal government to set up the exchanges at it's expense. THAT is what this movement is about. If the obama crowd is so fond of this abomination, let them do the work. The emptiness of the liberal mind knows no bottom.
Stan February 27, 2013 at 01:43 PM
Your wrong the opt out was for Medicaid not Medicare. The nullification of Obamacare means that Georgia could opt out of the law. Delusional thinking and a complete waste of time.

Stan, You are correct. It is medicaid not medicare. As I'll never deal with either one to me they are essentially interchangeable. The challenges to the absurd Obama care will continue. Liberals like to believe that this program will "pay for itself" in time as all Americans will be healthy because of early prevention and better overall care. THAT is delusional thinking. This country will have run out of two things long before that "utpoia" is ever reached. 1) Health care workers. 2) Wealthy Americans money to pay for it.
Stan February 27, 2013 at 09:53 PM
How does making people buy health insurance cause us to run out of health care workers or wealthy people?

Stan, the only delusional thinking going on here is yours. You need a lesson in Constitutional Law 101. (1) Those nine justices on the Supreme Court are not infallible, (2) when it comes to the Supremacy Clause, the law has to be based on Constitutional requirements first before it is supreme to all other laws. Obamacare is not listed anywhere in the limited and enumerated powers given to Congress in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. You also forget that the States formed the Federal Government, not the other way around. Anything not given to the Congress is given to the States or to the People to decide. Chief Justice John Roberts left his ruling open to the States to decide even though he said that the penalties were really taxes, but that the Federal government could not use the Commerce Clause to justify Obamacare, as they had no right to force anyone to participate in Commerce. Read the entire 17 pages of his final ruling, and you will see that he stated the States can maintain their sovereignty. Therefore, the States do have a right to Nullify or Repeal Obamacare. The Georgians for Healthcare Freedom want the Governor to let the People decide whether they want Obamacare or not. If that is the case, you can vote anyway you want to, but for the vast majority, we now know expensive ($6.2 Trillion will be added to our deficit) and how destructive Obamacare will be to the free world's best health care system as well. Get you facts straight first.

The Supreme Court has already spoken, the law is here, Georgia will implement it like it or not, People who believe states can nullify laws they don't like are living in a fantasy land,

seven crooked bribed reps. votes got 'fed health care' passed with all of its atrocities, including forcing taxpayers to fund legalized murder (supreme courrupt 'court'), 1/6th of u.s. economy further crippled, creates a huge 'new' bureaucracy, adds 'tax police' jobs to irs, fed. clowns offer bribes to states to install the 'law', it taxes real estate, gold coins, my doctors tell me this 'law' stinks & they hate it, nurses tell me they think it a 'horrible law'. this 'law' passed by very corrupt reps. & by those votes & cheats who put/keep numbskull in office. many people are fed up with tyranny. --- let the stans of this world believe their lying teachers. those who know better should not cooperate with a free people's suicide. --- thinking is hard work for brainwashed folks so blind & who continually rubberstamp the current brands of liberalism/progressivism that have produced the destructive present nuttiness. the chief stooge et al. acts lawlessly every day. how long will reps. remain blind to the crying need for impeachment for all his crimes, for unjust crooked judges to be unseated as well. (when will we have enough honest officials in congress for an impeachment vote to carry, instead of the quivering gray mice & fat cats drawing their self-voted extreme overpayments for their 'votes.' should we keep pretending there is no God there who will judge the multiplied evils of our country?
