Qualifying Begins for Cartersville Elections

Mayor, three city council and three school board seats are open to candidates who wish to throw their hats in the ring.

Today through Friday, qualifying is open to those wishing to run for Cartersville city council, mayor and school board.

Mayor Matt Santini's seat is available — he has publicly said he would run for office again — along with those of Ward 2 representative Jayce Stepp, Ward 4 representative Lindsey McDaniel Jr. and Ward 6 representative Lori Pruitt.

The fee to qualify for mayor is $216 and city council, $144. Applications are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the city clerk's office at .

At least one school board seat is up for grabs. Ward 3 representative . The seats of at-large representative Linda Bennett and Ward 4 representative Pat Broadnax also are available.
