Public Works Director Accused of Stealing

A check missing from the city of Kingston's night deposit led to the arrest of Thomas L. Heard, 50, of Kingston.

The city of Kingston just outside Cartersville in Bartow County this week jailed one of its employees, who is accused of stealing.

Thomas Lee Heard, 50, of Turner Street in Kingston, was booked into the Bartow County jail by Police Chief Clay Patterson, who tells The Daily Tribune News a check was missing from the city's night deposit and Heard was caught on camera allegedly tampering with the box.

Current Public Works director, Heard has worked for Kingston for more than three years, according to the newspaper.

Heard faces theft by taking and theft of services charges, according to the Bartow County jail.
