Live from the City Council Meeting

See what Cartersville's governing board is doing tonight.

We are here live at the meeting at , starting at 7 p.m. The council is expected to make several appointments and discuss working with the state Department of Revenue to collect sales tax from businesses. 7:27 p.m. The council passes a bid award for the purchase of diagnostic equipment to be used in troubleshooting on city vehicles.

7:26 p.m. A resolution passes unanimously to get started. (This is a government body, after all.)

7:25 p.m. The council is discussing becoming a test site to work with the state Department of Revenue to coordinate sales tax collection.

7:20 p.m. The Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter has been certified by council. This allows the shelter to apply for grant monies.

7:18 p.m. Saunders Jones Jr. was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority.

7:17 p.m. Bill Eager was appointed to complete an unexpired term on the Bartow Library Board.

7:16 p.m. Don Temples, Brian Edwards and Charles Fluellen were reappointed to the Development Authority.

7:16 p.m. Scott Mahr and Jennifer Mathews were reappointed to the Convention & Visitors Bureau, with Jeff Watkins appointed to fill an unexpired term.

7:15 p.m. Hazel Stephenson was reappointed to the Etowah Area Consolidated Housing Authority.

7:15 p.m. The council just made several appointments to various boards.

7:14 p.m. The council just heard the first reading of a modified ordinance involving no parking on Postelle Street. New parking has been built.

7:09 p.m. Hicks served 10 years on the Planning Commission as well.

7:08 p.m. Former Councilman Robert Ed Hicks is presented a plaque for his years of service to the city.

7:05 p.m. The Cartersville City Council has started its meeting with the pledge, invocation and approval of the minutes.
